What are the opening hours of the station?

The Helsinki Central Railway Station is open every day of the year Mon–Sun 05:00 – 02:00. You can find the opening hours of the restaurants and services on their websites.

Where can I buy tickets?

Train tickets can be purchased with ticket vending machines at the Helsinki Central Railway Station, at VR service points, on VR’s website or with VR Matkalla app. Tickets valid for all modes of public transport in the Helsinki region can be purchased via HSL’s websitethe HSL app, HSL ticket machines, R-kioski shops or the HSL service point at the Helsinki Central Railway Station. Is there a luggage storage at the Helsinki Central Railway Station?

 

Luggage storage can be found in the station’s passenger service facilities on the basement floor, the entrance is opposite VR service point. The lockers work with card payment and can be opened every day from 6 a.m. to midnight. When choosing the compartment size, the customer can choose a barrier-free locker, which opens easily accessible lockers. Lockers can be booked for 3, 6, 12, 24 or 72 hours. The price is determined by the size of the locker, the duration of the reservation and the season. For overbooking, an additional fee will be charged for each starting hour. Unclaimed items will be transferred to the station’s lost property service. You can get more information by contacting customer service.

Is there a lost property office at the Helsinki Central Railway Station?

The stations’s lost property office, Suomen Löytötavarapalvelu, takes care of lost items that have been found at the station and in trains.

How is accessibility taken into account at the Helsinki Central Railway Station?

The accessible route to the railway platform is via the archway/corridor of Elielinaukio Square. The accessible entrance is indicated on the information boards of the station. From there and through the automatic door you can also enter to VR’s service point, the station, and the post hall. The accessible route to the metro is by elevator, via a separate metro entrance located in Elielinaukio Square. The accessible toilet is located in the passenger service facilities. There is barrier-free access to the toilets via elevator opposite VR service point.

Assistance service is available at the station. The assistance point is located by the platform 11, under the glass roof of the station’s central platforms. The point is accessible from the station hall, Elielinaukio Square, and the taxi stand in Asema-aukio Square. To book assistance service, call VR customer service for accessible travel at 0800 188 822 (free of charge, service hours Mon–Fri 05:00–22:00, Sat–Sun 07:00–22:00) no later than 36 hours before departure.

The historic and protected nature of the Helsinki Central Railway Station affects the accessibility of the building. Regrettably, wooden doors and wind cabinets at entrances, for example, are not accessible.

Where can I park my car?

Parking spaces can be found at the main entrance to the Helsinki Central Railway Station. In addition, there are several car parks in the surrounding area, the nearest of which is P-Eliel right next to the station. For more information, see P-Eliel’s website europark.fi/en/parking/p-eliel/.

Can I come to the Helsinki Central Railway Station with my pet?

How do I get from Helsinki Central Railway Station to the airport?

You can get to Helsinki Airport with a single train ticket from all over Finland, including the Helsinki Central Railway Station. From the airport train station you can easily enter both airport terminals via the indoor hallway. You can travel to the airport with a single commuter train ticket (including season and serial tickets) if you choose Helsinki Airport as your destination when buying a ticket. When travelling within the Helsinki metropolitan area, you will need a ticket from HSL. The HSL area is divided into four zones. For trips from the centre of Helsinki to the airport and from the airport to the centre of Helsinki, you will need an ABC ticket. Where can I find the toilets?

The public toilets can be found in the passenger service facilities on the station’s basement floor. The entrance is opposite the VR service point. There is barrier-free access to the accessible toilet via elevator next to the stairs. WC payment (€1,10) can be made with phone or card.
